Three Feathers were left laying in my backyard not long ago. I’m not sure what type of bird gave me such a beautiful gift, but I cherish these feathers. My first thought was that a magpie may have been the mystery gift giver.
The feathers are large and black mostly, with a very iridescent sheen when the light shines across them just right. But, I also noticed a very distinct turquoise and blue shine as well, so I’m not sure who they belong to. What I do know is that I now have a beautiful gift, and these feathers came to me, in a set of three, on a beautiful day. There was no doubt, I was looking at my next painting subject.
I painted what I saw at the moment. Three black feathers with turquoise and light blue highlights. Accents of purple, yellow, and orange were added for a splash of color acting as a tie for the feathers. The painting was created using watercolor, black ink, and digital techniques.
Feathers symbolize divinity, protection, freedom, knowledge, spirituality, luck, and communication in various cultures around the world.
Life is beautiful. Get out and paint!
